The Fuji XPro III Rocks - I think

-the-fuji-xpro-iii-rocks0229.jpg

It’s early days and I’m literally in love with the Fuji Xpro iii. I feel more at home with it in 3 hours than I did with the Sony a7 iii in 3 years. I’m not going to get into much here. I’m editing a video and I’ll feed back through that on my YouTube channel in a day or so.

First impressions though, especially from someone who isn’t gear obsessed, is that this camera isn’t for everyone. It’s kind of niche and has been created to facilitate a particular kind of shooting experience. It most definitely isn’t for anybody who loves menu flicking. It also isn’t for those who want total convenience as a digital shooting experience. For example the LCD screen flips down and isn’t practically accessible. This will annoy some people. For me it’s a revelation and obliterates the lure of chimping the back of the camera every time you take a shot. The experience is totally reminiscent of shooting film and obviously that is the point.

I’ve also jumped straight into shooting jpegs (i’ve been shooting RAW for 15 years) and frankly it’s a revelation. The colour jpeg profiles are pure gold and it has cut editing time down by around 90% already. Like I said I’ll dig a little deeper in the YouTube video but if you know me I’m not big on tech so it’ll be more of a flavour of things than anything else.

The images below are straight out of the can, shot as Jpegs and the Classic Chrome profile. I took them today in Brick Lane, East London.

p.s. I also purchased the Fuji XT4 for stills and shooting video. I’ll get into that next week.
