Destination Wedding Rhode Island

I shot in around 7 different countries in 2015. All of the weddings I shot were all in all a photographers dream. Erica and Jeffs wedding in Rhode Island was a dream within a dream. A wonderful couple with a cool bunch of friends who were totally up for creating some special memories for the bride and groom.

I want a cinematic feel to my images. I want them to explode from the frame. I want a kind of ‘the camera has no place being there’ feel to what I’m getting. My approach to working with people is as much as an artform as the photo taking itself. I want my images to be daring and spontaneous and at the same time I don’t want to take from the day. Approach, for me, is more a way of being.

It’s about mainlining my intuition and being alert to the day and the people and situations in it. Every person I encounter, no matter who they are, is the star of the movie in that moment. That’s how I have to look at it.

As people go there isn’t a one size fits all approach. And so my approach is more to do with being sensitive in the moment. Every moment and responding naturally. If I enter the day with an idea of how things are going to be then the day, as sure as Saturday comes, is gonna have other ideas. The art is being alert to what’s going on at all times. Whilst all of the images here are mine, I photographed this wedding with Claudia Rose Carter and she handled the bridal prep. I got stuck with the guys :)

I’ve included just a few images on this blog post. You can view a much more substantial gallery here.
