Destination Wedding Casa La Siesta, Spain
The night before the wedding the guests who had arrived early met in the town centre for drinks. It was a special time. The excitement in the air ahead of the following days Wedding was palpable. When I'm photographing a destination wedding I always like to be around for this. It's a great way to get to know the guests and them me. It kind of breaks the photography ice so that by the following day I can ease into things quicker. Chloe & Sam were the perfect hosts, chatting with everyone, and they made me feel so welcome too.
I wasn't out too late mind; I wanted to get back and rest up for the following day. Being alert to the moment is key for me to get the kind of frames I want to get and that can tax your energy if you are not prepared for it. Remember; as the photographer I'm not spending most of the day resting up like the guests. You're working. It's joyful work and it’s fun and … it's still work.
The Venue itself was the stunning Casa La Siesta Boutique, a beautiful, stylishly decorated country house, gardens of olive and orange trees, scented lavender, with views toward the spectacular Cadiz countryside. The guests spent a whole bunch of time on the morning of the wedding at the two large swimming pools. I was in my element stealing frames.
Bridal Prep started early. Spotify lists were playing as the girls hung out and took their time getting ready.
I also had plenty of time to capture some wide shots of the venue and the Cadiz hillsides which were spectacular. I just love having the space and time that a destination wedding affords. I also spent a little time hot-spotting a few cool places for the bride and groom portraits we would shoot later in the day.
The staff at Casa were amazing and made me feel very welcome and when It was my time to break for lunch late afternoon we all sat together and it’s always great to chat and get to know how weddings operate in different parts of the world. I hope to shoot here again at some stage.
If you are getting married please do get in contact. I would love to hear about your plans.
Paradise. There is no other way to describe Venice from a photographer's vantage point. It’s a photographers paradise.
