Never Stop Experimenting

Greece, just arrived at the villa. Unpacking. Not a sniff of the Ricoh batteries anywhere.

Sigh.

Time to pivot. Get creative. Experiment. iphone to the rescue. Let’s face it the iphone is not a poor man’s camera. I’ve experimented with it a bunch down the years. AND THE OSCAR GOES TO!!!

The trick with any camera is to shoot it’s limitations. The best camera in the world has limitations so it’s about adjusting how you’re looking at the world relative to the camera you’re using and what it’s good at.

Too, I’ve got a bunch of time to think sat around the pool. Get to thinking about the habits I’ve formed over the past few years, not just in how I’m shooting but the work I’m posting also. I’ve got into the habit of pleasing the algorithm a little. That changes here! Cue the music!

A little sidenote: I recently purchased a book by JOAKIM MOLLER, called ‘TIME ISN’T HOLDING US.’ His first proper photo book. It’s a great book, some dynamite images and what I was most impressed was his willingness to experiment. He’ll combines images to create these amazing little composites. He’ll also crop into images, often in the extreme, to create these magical little stories from 2,3 sometimes 4 or 5 images.
