Outdoor Wedding Photography at Fforest

It’s not often we get to shoot outdoor weddings in the UK. Fforest in Cardigan, Wales is the perfect location for this. I’ve shot several weddings here since 2011 and I never tire of the place. If you are planning an outdoor wedding in the UK you have to check it out.

I tend to arrive the day before to capture some of pre-wedding fun and games and steal some of the pizza that is usually on offer. Family and friends will arrive at different times during the day, wide-eyed and excited as they take in their surroundings.

The first wedding I shot here was for Bryony & Chris way back in 2011 and from the moment I arrived I was overwhelmed by the sheer splendor of the place. To call it a campsite is not doing it justice. This is the Hogwarts of campsites.

It’s what dreams are made of and I couldn’t think of a better location to host an outdoor wedding. The venue is a wedding photographer's dream. A labyrinth of farm, forest, and simplicity by the river Teifi gorge. It is close to the town of Cardigan and the quiet beaches and coves of the West Wales Coast.

The staff at Fforest are so easy going whilst at the same time on purpose and always on hand to support a relaxed and friendly vibe. There’s a quiet family feel to the experience of being at Fforest. Food is served in the lodge which is at the heart of the camp and a stone's throw from Bwthyn, the site pub!

The pub is the oldest building on the farm. Next is the cedar barrel sauna nestled into the woods. This is the perfect après-sea treatment. In the evening you’ll find lots of little open fires popping up all over the place and guests enjoying hot toddies and roasting marshmallows.

This venue is the perfect scene for outdoor music and festival type weddings. So whether you are hosting a two-day bohemian event, a rustic extravaganza with giant tipi’s, a stylish shabby chic dreamland, or a full-on dance rave wedding you simply have to check out this incredible location.

Kim & Paul were a joy to work with. They had flown in from Canada for the event to be with friends and family. I’d met them a day or so before in London for their pre-wedding shoot and we hit it off straight away. I love the images we managed to capture on the day.

Their guests were relaxed and totally into creating a wonderful memory for Kim & Paul. I hope to return to Fforest soon.
