Street Portraits - No Reason
Thoughts
I don’t have a reason for shooting some of the Street Portraits I do. I’m referring to portraits of people who are often challenged in some way. Don’t get me wrong, my conditioning, or my ego if you like, is always at play, coming up with one cliche reason after another for capturing the images I do. “You’re doing it to shine a light on society’s faults”, or “these people are human beings and deserve to have their portrait taken as much as the next person”, and so on. What I refuse to do is hold on to any of these reasons. Anything I come up with would be a fabrication. You see, the images I take are a form of exploitation whether I like it or not. Allowing that hesitation I feel to remain seems intuitively the way to go for now.
The truth is I take the images because I want to.
I’m honoured
I was excited this week to be included in FEEDSPOTS TOP 100 London Photography blogs. It really is an honour.
