Stress Gets a Bad Press

When taking advice - be discerning

There’s a whole bunch of people out there who will support you to fight for your limitations. They are not mean or doing it on purpose. It’s mostly an unconscious happening. They will advise you to ‘not put pressure on yourself’ for example or they’ll suggest to you that ’It’ll happen in time’ or they’ll say to you ‘do it when you feel ready.

This advice is coming from the kind of person who wants to climb flat mountains in the name of achievement.

People are Scared

Secretly what’s going on here is they are scared that they are not going for it in their lives relative to their dreams and goals and unconsciously … they want an accomplice.

In short what is ok with them … should be ok with you.

Now I’m in no way advocating putting a shit load of pressure on yourself for the sake of it. I’m not a total loony tune. And one person's approach to life may well be different from another person's. I would also suggest that this person who is giving you the advice is no doubt coming from a good place. They mean well. I’m simply aware that unconsciously our insecurity and the way we do things steers us in the direction of seeking out people who are doing the same thing.

What I’m advocating is to heed and be vigilant as to the advice we are taking on board.

Ignore this if you’re happy

Like if you are happy … genuinely sincerely happy with your life the way that it is … then not doing anything about changing it is fine surely?

And you don’t have to look too deeply to know if you’re happy or not.

The thing that holds us back is fear of failure but the fact of the matter is guys you cannot fail if you ‘go for it in life. it’s impossible. Failing is doing nothing. Failure is in the not starting. Failure has nothing to do with attempting and then it doesn’t work out. Because taking risks and climbing, even if you fall off halfway, is character building and will give you a bunch more insight for next time.

A Little Rigor is good for the Soul

Imagine climbing Everest and then turning back halfway. The next time you attempt it you will have a head start on yourself simply because you made a whole bunch of mistakes the first time around. And even if you don’t attempt to climb the same mountain what you have experienced will also spill into supporting you in your life as a whole.

There’s nothing wrong with a little bit of stress either. A little bit of rigor. It’s good for the soul. The problem with stress is mostly thinking that we shouldn’t feel it. There lies a world of anxiety. It’s a glitch in the matrix. If we tell ourselves we shouldn’t experience stress or tension and then we feel it in our bodies … of course there is going to be a consequence.

Face Tension

If we face tension and fear and stress in our bodies head on … we can relax into it. The paradox is when we begin feel that stuff in our bodies … mostly it dissolves anyhow. It burns up under the beam of honest attention.

Besides … I think it’s fine to entertain a degree of rigor and tension in our lives. It means we’re alive.

I could be wrong xxx
