Dave Cremin
A series of short, quickfire interviews with photographers we admire, who push boundaries with their work and continue to develop and grow as artists.
This week’s interview is with Irish (Cork) Street & Documentary photographer Dave Cremin
An artist who shoots and shares from the heart.
You can follow his work at @dave_cremin on IG
A film every photographer must watch: In The Mood for Love / Fallen Angels by Wong Kar Wai and (cinematography) Chris Doyle.
An album to edit to: Breakfast in America by Supertramp.
Shout out an Instagram photographer: Contemporary: Gianluca Mortarotti (@inframeswetrust) Eduardo Ortiz(@eortiz). Legend: Greg Girard and Barry Lewis.
Your favourite photographer of all time: Ernst Haas
A photo accessory you can't do without: A good strap, with two kids I can't carry a camera around otherwise. I use Hyperion rope straps.
Something we probably don't know about you: I strongly believe I have undiagnosed ADHD (my son is autistic) and photography is one of the only things I've not got bored of in my life. This will make sense to anyone who DMs me and doesn't get a reply for days!
What's the most surprising thing that's happened to you because of photography: The amount of incredible people I've met and new friends I've made, even people I've never met in real life. I live in a place where I know very few people so it's been great to make friends through photography from all over the world, including Cork.
If you could photograph anybody past or present, dead or alive, who would it be: Bob Marley would be one, I grew up idolising him and his music, he really advocated for peace and though he was very spiritual and I am not in any way I really related to him. I also don't smoke so this one really makes no sense!
Your desert island item: New York in Colour by Ernst Haas, I could look at that book every day.
Round Table Dinner: My parents Noel and Eileen, Jeff Lynne (ELO)and Christopher Hitchens.
(Editors Note: Big thanks to Dave for this interview.)
