Queen of the Rushes - Emma Jane

I wasn’t going to write anything for this weeks round-up as I didn’t write a jot in my journal this week. Which is rare. I’m always writing shit down. I was inspired this week by my friend Emma Janes blog post which you can read above. Firstly let me just say Emma Jane is a huge inspiration in my life and has been for many years. She’s also a close friend.

We lost touch, pretty much, for the best part of 8 years and have only recently found our way back into eachothers lives. She’s also one of a handful of people I have in my life who doesn’t flinch when telling me the truth as she sees it. It takes real strength and depth of character to put yourself out for a friend and tell them the truth.

Sometimes I think Emma Jane and I were cut from the same cloth. Our sense of humour; the way we go about interpreting the world, wickedly taking the piss out of each-other. We both have dealt with (and continue to deal with) addiction.

If you ever wanted an example of how sobriety should in no way inhibit an outrageous thirst for life then look no further than this beautiful person. There is nothing that you would do high on drugs or juiced on booze that Emma won’t do sober. (And more :)). I have also seen that the pay-off in living your life sober this way, i.e. not letting it stand in your way of living a full life, is a whole lot more intoxicating than any drug could possibly be. And that’s a fact.

Emma and I are currently working on a few projects, supporting eachothers solo things, but also feeling out something we may do together. Possibly it’s the reason we met all of those years ago. How cool would it be if that turned out to be a truth.

The loose idea at this stage is a YouTube show, chatting and inspiring in a supportive way, bringing in guests to chat and riff with.

What I think is exciting also is that whilst Emma and I are aligned of heart we do have our own thing, our own way of dealing with the day to day challenges of everything I’ve mentioned, coming together often, but at the same differing on the mechanics of approach at times and it will make for some awesome discussion.

I feel very tired as i write this. Tomorrow is another day … Tomorrow never knows. G x

A little playlist I made for Ems.
